My M.Sc Environmental Science course internship
As students of M.Sc Environmental Science course we students are compulsorily sent to various environmental companies, NGO’S or startups to undergo 1 month of internship of any environmental domain. After visiting various environmental organizations, discussing with many founders, co founders, C level officers of environmental offices, doing ample of online research, I was selected at Shreeji Aqua Treatment pvt ltd company for internship in Environmental Monitoring domain.
I did this internship for 1 month as asked from 15th September to 15th October time period in the year 2022.The company is located in Purnanagar, Chikhli area of PCMC and operates in various environmental services like environmental monitoring, waste water testing, ETP STP plants installing, providing fire safety training, food testing, microbial testing, reports generating, consulting, and many other services required by MIDC companies and factories.
My role was as environmental monitoring intern in the company, where I used to accompany Mr. Abhay Lakhole Sir, the environmental monitoring officer to various factories and manufacturing units for monitoring parameters like air, noise, light, collect water samples for lab water testing, etc. Prominent companies were Polyplastics ltd of Ranjangaon and Mega Fiber of Bhosari area. We would visit companies in specially made environmental monitoring van or car. We would also wear safety gears like safety shoes, head cap, gloves, to avoid any harm or injury.
Back in company laboratory, I would calibrate various environmental and chemical machines and instruments like ph meter, weighing meter, hot air oven etc and self perform chemical tests and analysis of various collected and coded waste water samples for knowing their impurities and pollutants present in them under supervision of lab attendants and section heads. Here too we all would wear lab coats, safety gloves, for avoiding harm from chemicals and acids used while lab testing.
Then we would compare the testing reports with MPCB, CPCB guidelines and submit it stating the pollutants are in permissible limits or not. I also learned and observed microbial lab testing, food testing, soil testing, and laboratory audits and sections labelling. Fire safety training was also conducted for one day to make us aware about fire hazards and how to be safe from such hazards. I also learnt reports and checklist marking and checking. And also observed the wastes and rubbishes that are generated in environmental testing labs.
Overall it was an amazing and bestest learning and self exploring experience at Shreeji Aqua Treatment pvt ltd organization. Lastly I would like to say thank you to Mrs. Ammi Singhvi maam, Mr. Abhay Lakhole Sir, Mr. Gopal Patil Sir for selecting me and giving me such memorable environmental monitoring internship exposure.
