Road accidents and environment
Environmental nuisances and issues cause lot of road accidents and deaths. This is due to climatic conditions, wildlife, vegetation, toxic wastes, pollution, lack of safety warning boards and signs, quality of grounds or roads, distraction of driver by natural causes, stray dogs, etc.
Climatic conditions like fog, mist, heavy rains, storms, floods disturb drivers vision and vehicle control, due to which major road crashes and deaths happen. Smoke, particulates, dews, eyes light brightness, district vehicle drivers and results in minor pr major road accidents. Road crossing of wild animals, animal attacks, reflex actions to save the mammal in front, too cause terrific loss of vehicle and life. Sudden falling of stout tall trees, plantation of trees in wrong place also cause life losses.
Toxic wastes in car like old oil cans, paint boxes, certain perfumes, fire objects like lighters and matchboxes, alcohol bottles, plastic rubbishes, etc results into major vehicle fire incidents. The contact and reaction of hazardous wastes with other reactive matter cause fires, short bursts, and smoke occurrence into vehicles. Playing loud songs In car music systems, frequent changing music volume and channels result in car accidents due to noise nuisance. Light pollution due to other opposite side vehicles, blurrs drivers vision and he looses vehicle control in no time.
Lack of safety boards and signs where they are needed most, too glossy and illuminating board signs, damaged or dull warning signs, etc on highways and hilly slopes cause horrible accidents due to lack of proper sign communication and guidance to the driver. Here heavy vehicles crashes with cars and other light vehicles occurs more frequently. No proper road survey, safety inspections, audits, no installation of good quality road safety gears, results in many innocent life losses.
Poor quality and conditions of roads too cause vehicle crashes due to large potholes and depressions, dangerous road turns, unnecessary speed brakers, left over construction materials on roads, drastic road slopes, abandoned accident vehicles on road sides, etc. Many two wheeler accidents occur due to road potholes and chase by road stray dogs at night time. Other causes include using rubber waste quality vehicle tyres, oil spills on roads, alcohol consumption, wearing no safety seat belts, over speeding, driving and viewing cell phone, etc.
To reduce the number of accidents in a year, road safety awareness must be created by imbibing safety factors in people's brain by circulating creative and attractive road safety films, clips and pictures. Radio songs, jingles, morning tunes will work a lot. Road side paintings and art works on road safety tips and inputs will also work. Proper and systematic road safety inspections, auditing and surveying will save many million human lives.
